How long does PU FOAM take to cure after application?

How do I deal with the excess foam after curing?

PU FOAM, a go-to for sealing and filling, is popular for its versatilitybut knowing its curing timeline and excess foam handling is key to a smooth project.

Typically, PU FOAM starts to skin over in 1020 minutes after application, meaning the surface hardens enough to touch. Full curing (when its completely solid and ready for further steps) takes 2448 hours. This varies, though: warmer, drier conditions speed up curing, while cold, humid environments can extend it to 72 hours. Always check the product labelsome fast-cure formulas cut full curing time to 12 hours.

Once fully cured, excess foam cant be wiped away, so youll need tools. First, use a sharp utility knife or foam cutter to trim the bulk of the excess, following the surface contour to avoid damaging the base material. For small, leftover bits, fine-grit sandpaper (120180 grit) works to smooth the area. If the foam is on a paintable surface, lightly sand until even, then clean with a dry cloth before painting or sealing.
